I’m going to explain what I’ve done in regards to POP SPACE and the `PAGE HITS` system now employed and the `POINTS` system you may of noticed on your page.

First the Page Hits: now it might seem odd, but there is good logic to this. Every time a `unique` i.e. first time visitor visits your page, it will register as a `Page Hit` … so if one day you have 10,000 page hits, it means you’ve had 10,000 totally individual unique visits – even though those visiting may visit your page countless times, only one unique visit is recorded, this could come from members or visitors. Other sites similar to this don’t use this system, they use a time scaled system so after a set period recent visitors will trigger a hit … that’s if it’s real and not some clever BOT.

That system might seem okay, but it doesn’t give you accurate info – you just end up with a large number. I can tell you already that most of you on POP SPACE have had well over a 1000 visits in just this week, but all from the same group of people.

Remember, we haven’t launched the site yet … things will become really busy over the year.

POINTS: now the point’s system works by counting YOUR activity i.e. each visit to a member’s page is counted as 1 point = 1 hit … now this is the good part. The more points you gain the more space you gain on your account – this will become more important over time, but eventually you’ll have a full blown VIP account on POP SPACE … the amount of space given and how many points you need is kept secret – we don’t want to encourage mass posters or spammers (I’ll keep an eye on this) but I will tell you the upgraded space is done in stages.

Now, POP has always been proud of the fact that we keep things honest in regards to Plays & hits (I’ll admit I’m slow at refreshing the charts each day) it might not look as impressive as some site stats, but we’re not trying to be anything other than `POP` … I let the quality of our Artists/membership do the talking, and its fast becoming known that Project Overseer Productions OMD concept holds some of the best Independent musical talent on the Internet – I wont argue with that!

Even though I’ve been offered clever gizmos by developers & Reps to fake activity (yep, some believe it’s a good thing to fool people i.e. an empty shop draws no customers type of philosophy is used, but I wont have it) I respect our membership and the abundance of amazing talent within … I like to think of this as a `Basic Standard` and I know you guys are likeminded enough to agree with this.

My thanks and kindest regards to all
